About Us

The Greatest Stories Never Told

We are conveniently located in Charleston, SC, the Ancestral Capitol of Black America in the last surviving historic Independent African Methodist Episcopal Church building established in 1898. Currently, the building serves as the home of the Voice of Hope Church and Worship Center under the leadership of Senior Pastor Kenneth Edmondson (Pictured above on the right).  On the left above is the museum founder, Kelvin M. Blufton, Sr.

Sacred Spaces

We offer a Resistance History excursion to sacred spaces and historic sites rarely, if ever, visited or explained by local guides and scholars.

Sweetgrass and Gullah Culture

Sweetgrass is a fragrant perennial grass used in artful basketmaking by Gullah artisans. It is also used for spiritual purposes such as healing and purification.
